Alef Ceramics is a pottery studio located in Costa Mesa, California, where each piece meticulously hand-built or thrown using natural elements. All creations are signed by Eva Eljasz, the artist and founder, and include unique vases, limited edition tableware, and small sculptures designed for both functional and decorative purposes.

 

  - THE STORY - 

 

Movements—both the act of moving and the plural form—capture the essence of Eva Eljasz's personality and artistry. Her journey spans continents, from relocating between countries to shaping clay on a wheel, transforming earth into stunning forms that continue to evolve in their new homes.

 

Eva grew up in Paris, earning a Master's in Media Management before moving to New York, where she met her future husband. After two years in Tel Aviv, she returned to the U.S. and settled in California, drawing inspiration from her diverse experiences and cultures to create timeless pieces.

 

Reflecting on her journey, Eva shares, “I took my first wheel class in Paris in 2016 and fell in love with the process. After moving to New York, I continued to practice and studied under master teacher Risa Nishimori. In 2018, I moved to Brooklyn, where my passion turned into work as I assisted talented artists at Franca, learning various techniques. In 2021, I opened Alef Ceramics in California, embodying my ever-evolving spirit.”
